Monark Home and Dacor were both at this year’s Miami New Times’ Iron Fork, a chef competition and grand tasting event that consistently brings thousands of people to downtown Miami to indulge in delicious cuisine to satisfy a wide variety of tastes both classic and exotic.
As kitchen stage sponsors, Monark Home and Dacor proudly showcased Dacor’s new Modernist collection and raffled off a sleek Dacor microwave to boot. The Modernist Collection is Dacor’s latest exploration of the intersection of intuitive technology and timeless craftsmanship. Everything about this collection is designed to seduce the senses, with a focus on innovation that transforms kitchens into imaginative spaces for inspired cuisine.
This year, the main Iron Fork Battle of the Decade competition was overseen by Allen Susser, one of the area’s most celebrated chefs and a member of the famed “Mango Gang” – and Chef Santiago Gomez from Tacology was selected as the lucky winner!
The 2500 people who attended this year’s event were treated to several exciting elements in addition to the Battle of the Decade competition. Others included the student competition with Johnson & Wales culinary students, in which they competed for the first annual Michael Shikany Knife of Excellence award; samplings of the culinary wares of over 50 of the best restaurants in the area; and a new cooking demonstration to welcome Chef Lawrence Page, star of the WeTV show Hustle & Soul, to the Miami family. The organizers also made sure to earmark dollars raised and food collected for the Miami Rescue Mission specifically toward helping Hurricane Irma victims.
Here’s to an incredible 10th anniversary of the Miami New Times’ Iron Fork culinary competition, with many more to come – and a hearty thanks to all who participated! Check out more photos at the Miami New Times Facebook, and for even more culinary inspiration, visit your local Monark showroom!
