The crisp air, crunchy leaves, and complete change of scenery that herald the autumn season always makes us crave the warmth of a home-cooked meal. Lucky for us, autumn food recipes abound! Find your fall inspiration in five of our favorite takes on classic autumn foods below.

Pear Crisp

Is there any better adjective to describe autumn food than crisp? We think not. This fall dessert is perfect for any occasion, whether a late night treat or your prepared sweet for Thanksgiving dinner. Most people think of apples when it comes to crisps, but using pears instead is a great way to switch things up. The warm, spicy aroma combined with the crispy, buttery crumbles on top of this sweet treat are a match made in heaven, the best way to end any meal.

Pumpkin Soup with Ancho Chile Pepper and Apple

It’s safe to say pumpkin is pretty much the staple of autumn food. This soup is the perfect combo of spicy and sweet, with a satisfying mixture of ancho chile peppers, pumpkin, and apple – not to mention the flavor contributions of the cinnamon, onion, and pepper! What better excuse to whip out your blender than to purée this fall comfort food?

Roast Tikka Chicken

Chef Jamie Oliver concocted this beauty, rounding out the chicken with roasted potatoes, cauliflower, and plenty of flavor. While it might take a little extra patience to cook this entrée (10 minutes to prep but one hour to cook), the wait will definitely be worth it. The fresh coriander and tikka curry paste will have you drooling over the aromas seeping from your oven.
